Learning from the signals around you
How are you at learning from and adapting to the signals around you?
So much of culture and society tells us that we, as individuals must fight to get what we deserve. In the process we've developed a culture of opposition and internalized this damaging message. Yes, there's definitely times when we have to fight, but this should not be our main mode of operating.
If we are constantly in fight or flight mode, we all understand the damaging impact it can have on our health, relationships, and lives. It's so important during professional and personal transitions that make healthy choices to release ourselves from the fight mode. If that's exercise, social support, or mindfulness practices, we have to train ourselves to recognize the triggers that put us into this mode and practice self-compassion and acceptance to learn from these experiences.
I was reminded of this last night while watching a YouTube video by "Anne of All Trades" titled, Weeds are the Answer to Your Garden Problems! No, I'm not a farmer and we don't even have a garden at this time, but the wisdom in her message wasn't just about gardening. Her perspective transcends farming. She's not fighting weeds but learning from them and adjusting her approach.
What are the weeds in your career telling you?
How can we learn from them, work with them, and not take an oppositional stance?
